Meet the Villains in Jet Burn!

Greetings, Heroes!

As we progress through the Card Reveal season for My Hero Academia: Jet Burn, we’re excited to start taking deeper dives into the new characters and strategies that Jet Burn will provide! 

Dabi

The immolation specialist returns to UniVersus! The new Dabi is all about restricting your opponent’s resources by having them repeatedly make checks to commit their foundations.

Dabi's Enhance has his Rival check against a 5, and if they fail you can look at the top card of your deck. Being able to force a check every time you attack provides the foundation much of his kit operates around -- being able to see your next check to decide your next move is just a bonus!

Using Dabi's Response ability, every time they make a check either your attack gets faster or theirs gets slower! Lastly, his other Enhance gives each of his attacks a little extra damage.

This ability suite synergizes very well with many of the League of Villains members from previous sets, including cards like “Vile Seizing”, “League Invitation” and “Mastermind’s Apprentice”!

Gentle Criminal

The internet celebrity (and villain-for-fame) Gentle Criminal's first appearance in UniVersus is here! Gentle Criminal has two Response abilities that add together for a headache for his Rival!

Gentle Criminal's first Response activates when either player blocks an attack. After that attack is blocked, your next check to play an attack OR block is increased by the block modifier of the card that was used to block!

On offense, when your Rival blocks your attacks you'll be able to keep playing into Progressive Difficulty, and on defense you'll be boosting your checks every time you block!

Lastly, Gentle Criminal's second Response triggers after you play an attack that had its check modified to give your attack speed!

Gentle Criminal loves cards that allow for check modification while attacking, such as "Twisting Azure Inferno", "Double Jab Pummel" and "Mastermind's Reveal" to extend his turns while also taxing your Rival's resources.

Hood is an expertly bred Nomu designed by the villainous Doctor Tsubasa to take down Pro Heroes!

Hood's first Enhance lets him Mill the top card of his deck to give his attack damage equal to the difficulty of the card you milled. Because of that, Hood wants to play as many high-difficulty attacks and foundations as possible!

The villainous Hood might only have a 5-hand size, but don't worry -- he's going to draw plenty of cards with his Response!

Hood's Response allows him to commit a foundation to commit one of his Rival's foundations and draw a card ANY TIME HE TAKES DAMAGE. Allowing for your Rival to get a few hits in, only to commit their resources and brutally counter-attack is a winning combination for Hood!

Jet Burn's Prerelease is coming up soon! Jet Burn's official release is November 17th, 2023 but the first chance you'll have to get Jet Burn is at your local game store on November 10th, 2023!
