There is one change to the UniVersus Banned and Errata list this month. As a result of internal playtesting of Shishiwakamaru with future sets have led us to releasing an errata ahead of time. As the game further explores the space of high difficulty for high impact attacks we discovered a pretty negative series of gameplay loops with Shishiwakamaru. There were many situations where the game result boiled down to largely “Did he draw the big bomb on turn two?”. The future is still bright for Shishiwakamaru as he finds many new toys in the upcoming releases, but we want to draw a line for him to prevent some of the more negative gameplay situations he can create.
Old: Form Commit, remove 1 momentum from the game: The next card you try to play this turn passes (no check necessary).
New: Form Commit, remove 1 momentum from the game: The next card you try to play this turn with printed difficulty 8 or less passes (no check necessary).
With this change, we cut off some of the more problematic interactions we were seeing in testing, while not removing any of his functionality as it currently exists. There are still plenty of tools coming for Shishiwakamaru and he will remain a card we keep an eye on moving into the future.
