What is the Challenger Series?

Greetings, Players! With UniVersus being the game “Where Worlds Collide,” we're excited to provide you with all the details about the Challenger Series—the latest addition to the UniVersus CCG product line.

Challenger Series releases are pre-constructed decks (plus a pack of foil, alt-art cards!) featuring characters from your favorite worlds ready to hit the stage and prove who is the best. Different from our Clash Decks, which have a greater focus on learning the game from the ground up, Challenger Series decks are designed to be battle tested and ready to be competitive right out of the box. Crafted to showcase realms from diverse realms of entertainment, these confrontations seek to unravel the timeless questions of whether your beloved characters can triumph over those of others.

What's inside your First Challenger Deck
Picking up your first Challenger Deck is a great way to experience the best of both the  UniVersus CCG and the worlds that bring your favorite characters to life, right out of the box. You are going to get:

• 1 Pre-Constructed deck containing 60 cards

• 2 Foil Character cards

• 1 Collector’s Booster Pack

• 1 Information Booklet

Each deck is a showcase of something extraordinary—whether it's UniVersus venturing into a new realm for the first time, capturing a special moment for fans, or introducing unique mechanics and ideas for the characters to highlight. With every Challenger Series deck, you're in for an experience that truly lets the characters shine.

Playing your Challenger Deck  

Challenger Decks are a self contained play experience inside of themselves. Just pick which of the 2 characters you want to play as, shuffle up, and start the battle. With the mechanics of these decks being designed for competitive play all Challenger Series decks will have a style or a theme to go with them; each of the two character choices provides an interesting twist on that theme. Let’s take a look at one of our first Challenger Series decks, Trigun Stampede. Both characters share the same idea of mechanics, but do them a bit differently. Vash The Stampede has 2 abilities. The first allows him to Mill the top card of his deck to make his attacks faster while the second lets him discard an attack to draw 3 cards. Nicholas D. Wolfwood likewise has 2 abilities that let him draw cards and enhance his attacks, but with his own distinct way. Instead of speed his Mill ability gives an attack damage and to draw he discards a momentum (a resource gained by attacks dealing damage) and turns that into 2 cards and 2 health. This lets you take a different approach to how to play their Challenger deck with how you express your skill. Do you prefer the faster Vash who wishes to end a fight quickly or hunker down with Nicholas D. Wolfwood and play for the long game with powerful shots.

Challengers Within UniVersus

Taking a Challenger Series deck is just the first step in the journey. Every UniVersus card is compatible in the system which makes updating your favorite decks seamless between worlds. The characters and cards from your Challenger Series deck can share symbols, ideas, and core concepts with cards from other worlds. And to illustrate that, let's take a very different character from My Hero Academia and put them alongside Spike, Bounty Hunter from the other of our first Challenger Series decks Cowboy Bebop. Our main focus from his card is that you flip your own foundations for effects and that the more cards are face down, the stronger and faster every attack can become. This shares with the ideas that Ochaco Uraraka .IV (from My Hero Academia Jet Burn Clash Deck) has where her decks also get bonuses from flipping foundations, but gain a more immediate effect over needing to build up over time. Both share the same deck building symbol of Earth and resonate well with each other's attacks and foundations. Allowing for adding a few cards like Neck Chop or Weightless to make a strong Spike deck to be even stronger. With each challenger deck containing unique cards for deck building, there is an amazing amount of space for you and your favorite characters to explore.

Calling All Collectors

With that we come to the last item in your Challenger Series box, the Collector’s Booster Pack. The Collector’s Booster Pack is an exceptional choice for passionate collectors seeking to elevate the allure of their decks. Tailored for fans of the world, this booster pack contains six cards from the Pre-Constructed deck. Each card comes with a foil treatment that adds a touch of brilliance to any collection. Moreover the inclusion of alternate art versions and, in certain instances, entirely distinct flavor text serves to deepen the narrative storytelling through the cards. This Collector Booster serves not only as an enhancement for your deck but also as a gateway to the visually stunning worlds UniVersus brings to you.
