Design Team Primer – The Death Symbol
Welcome to the UVS Games Design Team Symbol Primer! Today we are going over the Death symbol, one of the favorites of control players and those who simply enjoy seeing their opponent’s resources dwindle.
The Death Symbol
When it comes to ways the Death symbol plans to gain the advantage, you may need to use the term “advantage” loosely. To players of the Death symbol, their opponent’s loss is their gain. This commonly manifests in destroying your rival’s foundations, reducing your rival’s health directly, or sometimes just blanking the ability on a card completely.
Destruction
Cutting down your rival’s foundations can be just as good as speed manipulation when it comes to landing important attacks when you need them! It can be costly to keep down someone’s stage, so be wary of the costs inherent with such power. Destruction can be for either side, as well. You could find cards that destroy your own resources to push yourself ahead, or look to cards that destroy your opponent’s resources to keep them down.

Direct Damage
Direct damage to your opponent’s health can be much stronger than a direct damage pump pretty often. Why risk adding an extra 2 damage to an attack that could end up being blocked when you could just subtract 2 health from your opponent directly?
