Challenger Series Format Announcement

Greetings Challengers!

Today we are here to celebrate the Challenger Series! This has been made possible by every UniVersus fan, player, and collector that helped create this success and introduce a new way to continue to celebrate this in the future.

What is the Challenger Series?

For anyone just starting their UniVersus journey let’s give a quick recap. At the start of 2024, UniVersus introduced a new product to our community, the Challenger Series, as a preconstructed ready for play deck line for UniVersus. Challenger Series releases contain a ready-to-play deck, one or more all-new character cards, and a Collector's booster filled with foil and/or alt-art versions of the cards in that release. Plus, because each release is a complete experience, the Challenger Series lets us explore more worlds or zoom in on iconic moments from your favorite fandoms.

A celebration with more to come…

With the upcoming Challenger Series releases, and our 2025 Universus Roadmap highlighting our plans for the future, we are proud to announce that the UniVersus community has shown how successful this has become. In honor of this celebration and accomplishment with the community and LGS’s around the globe, we want to say thank you!

With such success, we have wanted to give back to the community with something that has been a frequently asked request since the Challenger Series inception by players and stores. Today we make it official…

Welcome to the Challenger Series Format!  

Starting today, we are introducing an official format type for the UniVersus CCG called “Challenger Series Format”. This format lets players compete utilizing unmodified Challenger Series decks. Pick up a box, choose one of the included characters, shuffle up and go!

This format is to continue the celebration of the Challenger Series available now and into the future. Challenger Series Format is an evergreen format - no set rotation! You can always have your favorite character from all the different worlds that make up the UniVersus CCG ready to battle and answer the question: “who would win?”. By only allowing preconstructed decks it’s sure to be friendly to new players, enjoyable to players less confident with Standard deckbuilding, and a way to showcase a players deck piloting skills. Truly a great ‘pick up and go’ event any UniVersus player can be excited to join. Fear not players who already own a Challenger Series but might have used its contents in other decks: You can now find all of the deck lists for all Challenger Series here. As an added bonus when an LGS or tournament organizer selects to run a Challenger Series Format event on the UGN gives a bonus 10 points above a standard LGS event so you will earn 60 loyalty points for playing.

We have more in store to continue with the celebration late in this year. Keep your eye out for new announcements as the new format takes off and the Challenger Series continues to grow to allow more worlds to collide.
