Season 4 2024 Organized Play Cycle FAQ

Greetings, players!

With our shift into Season 4 of the 2024 Organized Play Cycle, we have been seeing questions from our players that we would like to address for everyone today. Season 4 will have 4 tiers of events happening, and we are going into detail on all of them.

Local Qualifiers

This tier of events is open for Local Game Stores to run between November 11th, 2024 - December 22nd, 2024. The format for this tier of event is up to each LGS, though we do recommend Standard or Spotlight: Attack on Titan formats. While Local Qualifiers will still grant the same physical promotional items as they have all year, Local Qualifiers for season 4 will no longer grant you seasonal points or champion points that roll into the 2025 OP Cycle. With us sunsetting the Local Qualifiers Tier for the 2025 OP Cycle, the need for a rollover system is no longer there.  Instead the Champion Points earned from this event will count towards your 2024 OP Cycle Nationals Event Invitation and for the top ranking of Champion Point Players for a 2024 Worlds invitation. Winning your Local Qualifier will still automatically invite you to the 2024 OP Cycle Nationals.

2024 Nationals

This event tier is invitation only if you have won a Local Qualifier tier event during the 2024 OP Cycle, have received an invitation pass down from a player winning multiple Local Qualifiers, or have earned 10 Champion Points throughout the 2024 OP Cycle. The format for this event will be Standard Constructed for all rounds of swiss and Top Cuts. This tier of events will be hosted as follows:

• OCE Nationals: January 10th-12th, 2025 in Brisbane, AUS

• UK/EU Nationals: January 17th-19th, 2025 in Leeds, UK

• NA Nationals: January 24th-26th, 2025 in Dallas, TX

Side Events will be held at all 3 locations and are open to all players, regardless of invitation to the main event.

These events will be your last chance to earn your seat to the 2024 Worlds Event as the Top 8 players from each National event will earn their invitation. Also, all players have the ability to earn Champion Points to help raise their point totals to try to earn a 2024 Worlds Event invite via Champion Points. The final cutoff for Worlds Invitations will be locked in at the conclusion of the last National tier event of the year, NA Nationals on January 26th, 2025.

Local Championships

This tier of events is open for Local Game Stores to run from January 27th- February 6th, 2025. The format for this tier of event is up to each LGS, though we do recommend Standard format. Local Championships will be your first chance to earn points for the 2025 Organized Play Cycle. This tier will still grant you the same physical prizes as you have been accustomed to all year but will be granting players Champion Points towards the 2025 Organized Play Cycle. These points will have no bearing on 2024 Worlds, and it's a great time to start the new cycle early with your local competitors.

2024 World Championship

This tier of event will be exclusive only to the Top 64 players invited from all around the world. UVS Games will reach out to the Top 64 players with their invitation and more details within the week after the Point Cutoff at the conclusion of the last National tier event of the year, NA Nationals on January 26th, 2025. These 64 players will consist of the following

• The winner of the 2023 World Championship

• The nine (9) Champions from the 2024 OP Cycle Major Regionals

• The twenty-four (24) players that earn Top 8 at the 2024 OP Cycle Nationals

• The thirty (30) remaining players that earned the highest amount of Champion Points during the 2024 OP Cycle, broken down as follows:

  • The top five (5) point earners from the OCE Region

  • The top five (5) point earners from the EU Region

  • The top five (5) point earners from the NA Region

  • Next top fifteen (15) players worldwide

These players will play in an exciting Standard Format two-day tournament to determine the 2024 UniVersus Champion. This event will be closed to everyone outside of the top 64, media/press, and UVS Games employees.
