Violent Past – Standard and Hero Too

We knew going into the release of Tekken that Violent Past was going to find homes in some of the premier Sacrifice-focused strategies like Mikasa and Pieck. Throughout the Regional seasons this year, those decks have done well, but haven’t put up significant results. The hope was this card would push those decks back into the fray as viable competitive decks. Unfortunately, that push was a little too hard, particularly in the case of Mikasa. The game speed and consistency boost it gives her both enables earlier kill turns than we’d like to see, but also gives her incredible reach in longer games.

Genkai’s Guidance – Standard and Hero Too

Genkai’s has functioned as a cornerstone defensive piece since its release. It’s always seen some play even with some usage ebbs and flows in competitive play . It’s nearing the end of its time in the Standard format, but we aren’t quite there yet. There is a subset of decks really looking to push the limit of late-game defense with Genkai’s. Usually these decks are playing it in combination with Divine Defender, Military Airship, and/or Street Hero. The introduction of these cards has changed the format in a way that creates some unhealthy play patterns for Genkai’s. With that in mind, we are going to let Genkai enjoy an early retirement.

Channel Chaos – Hero Too and Retro

Channel is a spicy card in any format, but in older formats it has a few partners that create very powerful loops. The main culprits in Hero Too are Instant Explosive Release and Dual Needle Lunge, but there are even more dangerous options in Retro. We are going to close the loop in both formats because many decks can execute it very quickly and very easily.

Unlimited Psycho Crusher – Errata

Old:

Response [Card Pool]: After you mill 1 or more attack cards, this attack gets +1 speed and +1 damage.

New:

Response [Card Pool]: After you mill 1 or more attack cards, your attack gets +1 speed and +1 damage.

We’re updating the wording with a functional errata to be more in line with the intent of the card and previous templating. Unlimited Psycho Crusher is able to respond during any attack to give a boost to your attack’s speed and damage.
