2026 Local Championships

Local Championships are your first step into competitive UniVersus Organized Play. These single-day tournaments take place right at the heart of any TCG: the local game store.

What is a Local Championship?

Local Championships are Standard format events with swiss rounds and top cuts based on the attendance guidelines in our tournament floor rules. They require both judges and decklists.

Level 2 events do not currently require judges (only recommend) in our floor rules. This definition will be updated once the current cycle of Local Championships is completed and the 2026 Local Championships begin.

Reap The Rewards

At Local Championships, players can travel and compete for new promos, playmats, and even round 1 byes they can utilize at any upcoming Regional tournament.

And for any Local Championship that hits 16 players or more? Look forward to $150 travel vouchers thrown into the prize pool courtesy of UVS Games.

 

Four Rounds of Competition

Local Championships take place across four Round periods throughout the 2026 Organized Play Series. Each Round consists of 40 different Local Championship events for 160 total.

While there are 40 LCs in each Round, the roster won’t always be the same. Stores in nearby areas might cycle around to encourage variety or give new stores a chance to host a Local Championship, while some choices will maintain a wide geographical spread to allow as many players as possible to engage with the program.
